Tip of the day

A north facing and a south facing room don't need the same colours or lighting. Always check before the orientation of the room before planning your new design.

When an interior designer design her own home, part 3

New seaside home

Part 3

16 October

Well, things have gone awry again this last week.

The three built in wardrobes were delivered, unfortunately two were completely the wrong size and in a state where we would have had to pay extra for the fitters time to figure out how they were put together and drill holes.  Also the tracks were bent so two were sent back.
Replacements were delivered.  These were the wrong sizes as well!  The top shelf was the wrong size so the fitter was cutting everything down to accommodate.  The doors were not symmetrical and one did not close as the base of the wardrobe is not level.  So, the wardrobe in bedroom 1 needs dismantling and rebuilding.

We are now awaiting another two new replacements.  Supposed to be delivered first thing, its now mid morning.

It does make me sad that I had two long telephone calls and one meeting in the showroom to go over the plans, just to make sure nothing went wrong.  Despite this everything that could go wrong has gone wrong!

Here is the wardrobe fitted in bedroom 3, it just needs final sealing.  Luckily nothing went too wrong with this one although it did take 6 hours to fit, it is 3 metres long.

I now need some black framed pictures and some other small black accents, then I shall put a little colour on the bed.  Unfortunately the sunshine yellow walls put on by the builders are just not floating my boat!
