Tip of the day

A north facing and a south facing room don't need the same colours or lighting. Always check before the orientation of the room before planning your new design.

When an interior designer designs her own home, part 2

New Seaside Home Part 2

18 September
Well, things are starting to settle down. Flooring in the hall and study finished and the house is beginning to come together!

21 September
Built in wardrobes have been ordered, they will be arriving on 5 October but the fitter cannot fit them until 9 October so we are still surrounded by packing boxes.
22 September
Our window blinds have at last been fitted.  I have decided not to go down the curtain route.  If there are not enough soft furnishings the echoy acoustics could become intolerable, so I am keeping an open mind and see how things go.  The windows do need some kind of sun shading as in the late afternoon it becomes very bright.

We have decided to fit the blinds for the middle two sliding panes directly onto the frame and the blinds either side to just hang from the top of the reveal.  When we need to open the windows the panes slide very neatly behind the hanging blind.  These blinds are also available in blackout, but these give a slightly grey appearance.  At the moment the blinds are 'settling in' which gives a slightly untidy appearance.

These are the living room blinds which work the same way as the ones in Photo 2.  Still no living room, settee, coffee table and media unit will be delivered late November.  The TV has been ordered and will be arriving next week!.  I also need a rug, that should soften things a bit!

So, at the moment things are under control!
